Create a Quick Shortcut to Kill Any Frozen Application
Usually when a program stops responding you can’t close it using the red cross in the top right-hand corner, so you have to go through the process of opening the Task Manager, searching for the problem application, then sending it the End Task signal. However, there is a much quicker way to deal with frozen applications – simply create a shortcut icon on your desktop to immediately kill all frozen programs. Here’s how:
Right-click on a blank area of the desktop and choose New > Shortcut.
In the location box, type the following command: taskkill /F /FI "STATUS eq NOT RESPONDING"
Click Next and set a descriptive name for this shortcut such as Quit Frozen Applications.
Click on Finish to create the link.
In future, you can double-click on this link with the left mouse button to exit all applications that have stopped responding. All other applications will remain unaffected.
