Well wouldn't you just know it. I spend ages booking my holiday then this Icelandic roman candle starts up. :affraid:
I am supposed to be going to Toronto on Wednesday. I suppose there is still time for it to clear but it will be a bit tight, they reckon shut down for another 2 days yet.
Being retired I can go anytime but my son is stuck now he has booked his hols from work.

Bit of bad luck there JayCee, I'd hate to have bookings for O/S at this particular time. Hundreds of flights have been canceled from this end.

I have a friend stuck in Melbourne for another week, mind you it is better than being at work. If he had flown with an EU carrier he would get his meals paid for and a hotel room as well.
I keep looking at the situation and it is as clear as mud, I think we are in a situation where nobody wants to say its OK to fly now even though BA and Lufthansa have both carried out test flights and declared no issues at all. Looks like I will be off to Scotland again instead.

Well we have a service call in the Orkney Islands and although some flights have now started to leave Inverness, I'm not sure about Aberdeen (where the engineer would need to leave from) so yesterday he was talking about driving up to the top of the country and taking the ferry over today......

Very windy this morning so guess what......yep, no ferry sailings rotflmao

Well Willie Walsh persuaded the right people and my flight was one of the first to be allowed to fly. Apparently BA need 3 days to put the food together so we only got one meal on the plane, they made up the difference and tried to calm passengers down by giving out more drinks than usual. I got doubles instead of singles without asking so the journey was not too bad. Had a great time in Toronto but have not got around to looking at the piccies yet.
