Think I've got a bargain tonight
Back in October I renewed my broadband with BT - incentive was a Mobile BB stick with 1GB usage a month for the 18month term of the contract. As I've been with BT for a few years (both through work & private) with out any major issues I had planned to stay with them anyway - but why refuse 1GB mobile usage a month
Tonight BT have called me again and if I agree to stay with them for my BB for the next 12 months from today then I can get a BT Vision+ box (160GB HDD, HD output, twin freeview tuners etc) for a one off cost of £15, free ESPN sports for the cost of the viewing card (£10) and their on-demand movie pack for £4.99 a month but as I'm a loyal customer they will give me a £5 a month rebate on my BB so apart from the £25 one off cost I will soon have ESPN & BT Movies (admittedly I have since looked at what is available to view this month & most are older movies but WTF, now I can record even more TV & not find the time to watch it )

Well that certainly looks like a bargain to me, must be your lucky day Alex. Nothing like that ever seems to happen to me. What I really like about it though is apparantly you are being rewaded for loyalty, that is unusual, as a rule these tempting offers are reserved to lure new customers in and no thought is ever given to existing customers. I take my hat off to BT.

Re: Think I've got a bargain tonight
well nothing has arrived in the post yet but at least I have 2 emails detailing the deal & costs and it is as was sold to me by BT.
Having said that the date I have for the kit going live is 5th March so still time for it to arrive and I've got a few days off around then as well :D

Re: Think I've got a bargain tonight
Well the delivery date came & went as did the following day and still no equipment despite chasing.
Spoke to someone yesterday afternoon who had enough sense to read me back the delivery address and although we have been out of the old address for 18months they somehow managed to use that as the ship to address
The bloke on the phone was too apologetic but they have now placed a new order for me - although their movie pack is not available at the moment so I had to take the TV pack for £2 more a month, however he has already placed a credit on my account so by my reckoning I'm not going to have to pay anything for at least 3 months and I still get my £5 monthly rebate on my broadband.
Having now looked at what is on offer on the TV pack it might have been a wise choice as there looks to be a lot of documentary/wildlife series as well as all these long drawn out series that have been on TV & now out on boxsets and as all this is on-demand it can be watched when you want to rather than having to wait for the published start times and no having to wait till the same time next week for the next episode. :cheers1:
I received a call later in the afternoon to tell me all the equipment will be with me by Wednesday at the latest (the day I go back to work.....oh well)

Re: Think I've got a bargain tonight
Finally my BT Vision kit has arrived :cheers1: minus the ESPN viewing card  but have been assured it will be with me in the next 2-3 days.
Even the powerline adapters worked a treat as the box is connected upstairs and the router is downstairs
Took 30 mins to connect up, scan for the freeview channels and play with the on-demand stuff. looks like I now have plenty of series boxsets to watch now

Should manage that this week as on Vacation again.
Having said that the last week I had off I set out to do as little as possible as often as I could.....and achieved that pretty well, so I feel the boss will have some work lined up around the house/garden this time round
Re: Think I've got a bargain tonight
You got a good deal there Alex.
I thought that BT vision would suit me last year so I ordered it and .......nothing arrived. I called them and they assured me that although they had sent one they would send another. And.....nothing. I called again and said that if it didn't arrive in the next three days to cancel the order and....nothing. They duly sent me a bill for the monthly charge, I called again and they appologised and cancelled it. And the next day another bill arrived, called etc, cancelled etc. And a week later the box arrived.
I called and explained what had happened and they appologised and said I had to send it back to them. And....I forgot to include the powerline adaptors, silly me. They work great like you have found out.

Re: Think I've got a bargain tonight
well the ESPN card arrived today, of course it works better if you insert it with the chip facing the correct way
Now I just need to find a decent football match to watch
